• Destructive plate margin (convergent) = when 2 plates collide

• constructive plate margin (divergent) = when 2 plates move apart
• transform plate margin (conservative) = when 2 plates slide past eachother
• Hotspot = an area on Earth over a mantle plume or an area under the rocky outer layer of Earth where magma is hotter than surrounding magma
• Causes of earthquakes:

  • movement of tectonics plates
  • volcanic eruptions
  • slab pull
• causes of volcanic eruptions:

  • pressure from exsolved gasses in the magma
  • increase pressure of the chamber lid
  • bouyancy of magma
• causes of tsunamis:

  • earthquakes occurring in the ocean
  • seamount collapse
  • submarine landslides
