Universal Indicator

• Universal indicator ( in solution or paper form) can be used to find the approx. pH of a solution
• Universal indicator is a mix of several different indicators
• 1. Put on safety glasses and tie hair back
• 2. Get out spotting tile and using a pipette put a few drops of each solution into different parts of the spotting tile
• 3. Submerge a piece of universal indicator paper into each solution and record the colour change
• risks:

  • corrosive chemicals
  • explosive chemicals if mixed
