  • South Sudan
    • After the end of Civil war between north and south Sudan, a new, independent state of South Sudan was born in 2011.
    The UN created a mission:
    1. Help with nation building
    2. Develop the conditions necessary for long term peace and security
    (This included providing military liaison officers to establish law and order, prevent more conflict and improve security for South Sudan)
  • This UN mission was unsuccessful however, South Sudan remains very unstable.
    • As of 2017: UN still there.
