Carbon dioxide fixation

Cards (4)

  • The first stage involves the fixation of carbon dioxide, the enzyme RuBP carboxylase catalyzes this reaction
  • The Calvin cycle occurs independent of light
  • At one point in the cycle Glycerate 3-phosphate is reduced to triose phosphate
  • Most of the triose phosphate is used to regenerate ribulose biphosphate. Some of the triose phosphates leave the Calvin cycle and are used to produce glucose, amino and lipids.
