  • Inside the uterus the baby floats in a liquid, The liquid protects the baby, The liquid stops the baby from being hurt is the mother falls or bumps herself.
  • The baby gets its food and oxygen from the mother. A cord called the umbilical cord join the baby to its mother.
  • The food and oxygen move through the umbilical cord from the mother to the baby. The umbilical cord is joined to the middle of the baby's tummy. When the baby is born the umbilical cord is cut. The place where the cord was attached is called a belly-button or naval.
