Why are the Upper Class tough to research?

Cards (4)

  • The Upper Class are an under studied area because they are an elite group that practise social closure (closed off from society) so sociologists can't gain access to them
  • It is often argued that upper class people aren't represented in a critical light or scrutinised for the role in society
  • Traditional Members of the Upper Class are represented in an eccentric or nostalgic light (e.g. The Crown, Downtown Abbey or The King's Speech)
  • The Upper Class tend to be represented in a positive light due to their position of wealth, however they practice social closure so this could be flawed
