The year of sorrow

• Soon after the boycott was lifted, Abu Talib passed away.
• With the passing of Abu Talib, Khadija also passed away.
• The year of sorrow was the 10th year of prophethood.
• When Abu Talib passed away, the leadership of the tribe fell in the hands of Abu Lahab who was hostile to the prophet and thus he lost his protection as well.
• Abu Talib was 80 years old at the time of his death and Khadija was 65 years old at the time of her death.
• This was a huge blow to the prophet and the Muslims in general.
