Mitochondria.

Cards (6)

  • The mitochondria is the site of aerobic respiration and is an energy generating organelle and site of adenosine triphosphate ATP production and carries out the process of aerobic respiration.
  • Aerobic respiration if the process where glucose is reacted with oxygen to produce carbon dioxidee and water. As this reaction is exothermic, the energy transferred from this reaction is used to produce ATP. Almost all processes in the cell that require energy obtain it from ATP.
  • Mitochondrion is surrounded by two membranes. The inner membrane is coated in enzymes, which catalyze the reactions of aerobic respiration to produce ATP.
  • Mitochondria have there own DNA and ribosomes to produce proteins such as enzymes.
  • Mitochondria make ATP energy by cellular respiration.
  • Mitochondria runs on glucose and needs oxygen to efficiently make ATP.
