  • Malaria is a vector Bourne disease caused by anopheles (Female) mosquitos
  • In 2015, 91 countries had ongoing Malaria transmission. It is common in sub-African countries due to warm, swampy conditions.
  • Malaria kills a child every 1 minute. It is responsible for 93% of deaths in Africa.
  • In 2006, when Malaria No More was founded, houses were sprayed with insecticide which led to a 74% drop in cases. Before the programme, 70% of hospital cases were due to Malaria, now it is less than 3%.
  • The new Malaria vaccine (R21) provides 80% protection.
  • Almost half a million Children died from Malaria in 2020 and since then, death rates have fallen by 60%
