Types of Poverty

• Absolute poverty - they are unable to provide themselves with the basic necessities such as food, clothing and shelter - homeless - reasons: loss of job, abuse, lack of qualifications, drug addiction, lack of support network, debt, redundancy, war
• Relative poverty - their standard of life falls below the standard of the majority of the population - not having 3 meals a day - reasons: low salary, lack of qualifications, cost of living war, born into it
• Environmental - the environment that someone lives in and how it can be lacking amenities/services which can then lead them to suffering and poverty
• Subjective - an individual who feels like they are poor
