X RAY intensity

• The mGya is a measure of the number of ion pairs produced in air by a beam of x-rays.
• Ionization of air increases as the number of x-rays in the beam increases.
• The relationship between the x-ray intensity as measured in mGya, and the number of x-rays in the beam is not always one to one.
• Some small variations in the x-ray intensity are related to the effective x-ray energy which are unimportant for our purposes.
• Radiation exposure rate expressed as mGy₂/s, mGy/min, or mGy/mAs can also be used to express x-ray intensity.
