• Step 1: teacher labels a pupil (e.g intelligent) and on the basis of tis label, makes predictions about them
• Step 2: teacher treats the pupil accordingly, acting as if the predication is already true e.g giving them attention or higher expectations
• Step 3: The pupil internalises the prediction which becomes part of their self-image or self-concept Prediction is fulfilled
