chromosomes and mitosis

Cards (6)

  • growth and DNA replication-before the cell divides the cell has to grow and increase the amount of sub cellular structures such as mitochondria and ribosomes
  • growth and DNA replication-it then duplicates the DNA so there one copy for each new cell
  • mitosis- 1 the chromosomes line up at the centre of the cell and cell fibres pull them apart
  • mitosis- 2 membranes form around each of the sets of chromosomes. These become the nuclei of the two new cells- the nucleus has divided
  • mitosis- 3 lastly the cytoplasm and cell membrane divide
  • in the mitosis the cell will have produced two new daughter cells which contain the same DNA
