There are also district elections and even elections for posts such as City Dog Catcher.
Sometimes Americans can vote for as many as 20 people in every election.
The USA is the most democratic country in the world.
People can stand as a candidate in an election for one of the political parties such as the Democrats and the Republicans.
People can campaign for their political party during elections, such as the 2020 Presidential election.
People can email, phone or send a letter to their representative about an issue they want to be sorted.
People can contribute money to help the political party.
People can protest against an issue, such as Black Lives Matter.
People can join a pressure group (called an interest group in the USA) such as the National Rifle Association (NRA).
Ethnic Minorities (Blacks, Hispanics and Asians) and Women are 2 groups who are not well represented in USA politics.
Some groups are not properly represented in American politics because they don't feel that the people in the Government represent them.
There has only ever been 1 Black President in the USA (Obama), and no woman has ever been President, although Hilary Clinton stood against Trump in 2016.
There is now an ethnic minority woman Vice President in the USA (Kamala Harris).
Many ethnic minorities are not registered to vote as the Registration Offices may be far away, and cannot be reached by public transport, or in enemy gang territory in the cities.
This means that these ethnic minorities cannot actually vote on election day.
Most representatives in the USA are older, white and male, which does not reflect the US population.
There are 5 main rights and responsibilities the people in the USA have: the right to free speech, a free press and freedom of religion.
People in the USA are allowed to say what they want without fear of arrest.
Newspapers such as “USA Today” are allowed to print what they want.
People in the USA can worship the religion of their choice such as the Church of Scientology.

People in the USA have the responsibility to respect the rights, beliefs and opinions of others and not stop them from speaking out.
People in the USA have the right to vote in elections for President, Congress person, State Governor and even city dog catcher.

People in the USA have the responsibility to register to use their vote, as if they don’t then they have no reason to criticise those in power, as they didn’t vote to change things.

The final non-political right in the USA is the right to bear arms (own a gun).
People in the USA have the responsibility to use their gun only in self-defence and have a permit for it.
There are 4 main ways the USA interacts with other countries in the world: economically, militarily, culturally, and politically.
Economically, the USA buys goods from American companies such as Apple and McDonalds, creating jobs for other countries as these companies open branches all over the world.
