Krebs cycle

Cards (2)

  • Where does the Krebs cycle occur
    Matrix of mitochondria
    1. Acetyl coenzyme A combined with a 4-carbon molecule oxaloacetate to form a 6-carbon molecule citrate.
    2. Citrate undergoes decarboxylation and dehydrogenation producing one NADH and carbon dioxide to produce a 5-carbon molecule.
    3. It regenerates oxaloacetate by releasing another carbon dioxide molecule, produces ATP, 2NADH and FADH.
