  • Explain why the food situation is the way it is currently on Animal Farm?
    There was food shortage on the farm because they did not harvest enough crops for the farm
  • How do the animals trick Mr. Whymper? Why do they do this?
    The animals say that they are so full when Mr. Whymper walked by so that he gets the impression that they are doing well. The animals also put sand in the grain bags and put the grains on the top so that the grain bags looked full of their food
  • Why does Napoleon order that the hens' eggs must be sold?
    Napoleon needed to trade with the humans to get things that they needed and he wants to sell the hens' eggs to get what the animals need for the farm.
  • How do the hens rebel against Napoleon?
    The hens go up to the rafters and lay their eggs from the rafters and have them break on the floor. They would rather have their eggs break than give their eggs up to Napoleon for trading with humans
  • How does Napoleon react when the hens rebel against his orders?
    Napoleon says that he would punish any animal that helps the hens by death. The hens have in for five days because they were starving. Nine hens died in the process of rebelling and the pigs said it was because of made up disease
  • Why does Napoleon revive, bring back, the threat of the farm being sabotaged by Snowball?
    He uses snowball as a scape goat when things go wrong/Fear tactics
  • Explain why Boxer is challenging what Squealer is telling him?
    He actually remembers that Snowball got an award and fought right along with the other animals during the Battle of the Cowshed
  • Besides Snowball, which animals were considered traitors? What had they done?
    1) Four pigs

  • Why does Napoleon execute the traitors? What does that do for his leadership?
    Napoleon executed the traitors to scare the other animals and keep them from speaking their thoughts/ as an example to the other animals to show them what will happen in they go against him. He does not want anyone to remember what truly happened because they will realize how their lives are worse now than when Jones was in charge. He does not want the animals to rebel against him. This helps Napoleon for his leadership because all of the animals are shaken and miserable because of the executions. Now, they are not going to want to speak up at all.
  • Explain why the three dogs attacked Boxer.
    Boxer was questioning against Napoleon, so Napoleon sent the dogs against him to shut him up. Napoleon did not want the other animals to go along with what Boxer says because he is actually right. He wants to scare the other animals
  • Why does Napoleon order the animals to stop singing "Beasts of England."?
    He states that everything being motioned in the sing "Beast of England" has been accomplished but in reality he does not want the animals to rebel against him. So he orders it to be stopped
  • What commandments have been broken in this chapter?
    -All animals are equal - All animals shall not wear clothes-No animal shall kill another animal
