Lone Parents

Cards (4)

  • Lone parents are more likely to be poor as they usually earn less than households with 2 parents as they only have 1 income, this means that they are financially less well off.
  • One income as they live on their own → covering all bills on their own → material deprivation (lacing resources) → poor educationpoverty later in life as the lack of education can result in it being difficult for them to find employment
    • If they have children they will have many additional costs
    • The parents couldn’t have long work hours as they need to look after the children and if they were to put them into daycare (so that they can work the longer hours to earn more money) they can’t afford the price
