Why did LoN fail?

• Support and selfishness: Britain and France did not support sanctions due to their own economic problems.
• Geographical: Japan was very far away from where the League was based in Geneva, slowing down decision-making.
• Structure: The League was slow to respond, lacked a standing army, and had no repercussions for leaving.
• Membership: The League lacked the support of the USSR and the US, making it difficult to enforce sanctions.
