  • Leadership is often defined as a process of influencing others to accomplish a task by providing purpose, direction, and motivation.
  • All leaders should be in tune with four key factors of leadership: The Led, The Leader, The Situation, and The Communication.
  • The Led refers to the people you are trying to bring together as a team, the people you are ultimately responsible for.
  • The Leader in leadership is You get what you give.
  • As a leader, you must have an honest understanding of who you are, what you know, and what you can and cannot do; “Know thy self”.
  • The Situation in leadership is that all situations are different leadership actions that work in one situation may not necessarily work in another.
  • Communication in leadership is the exchange of information and ideas from one person to another.
  • The three leadership styles are: AUTHORITARIAN, PARTICIPATIVE, DELEGATIVE.
  • AUTHORITARIAN is a leadership style characterized by individual control over all decisions and little input from group members.
  • PARTICIPATIVE is a leadership style that values the knowledge and wisdom of the entire team and requires patience, genuine effort, and decision.
  • DELEGATIVE is a less intrusive style where a leader delegates tasks and initiatives to individual team members, giving more control and power to the team.
