  • The two parts that make up the nervous system are the brain and the spinal cord.
  • The three types of neurones are sensory, inter and motor.
  • Informations travels through a nerve cell through the receptors, then the CNS, then the effectors.
  • The nerve pathway followed by a reflex action is called a reflex arc. For example, a simple reflex arc happens if we accidentally touch something hot.
  • Reflex action: Stimulus, receptor, sensory neurone, inter neurone, motor neurone, effector, response.
  • Hypothalamus detects and controls functions such as temperature regulation, thirst, hunger, sleep etc. and the release of other hormones within the body.
  • Homeostasis is the maintenance of stable body conditions.
  • For the body to warm up, it begins to shiver, and hair on skin stand up.
  • For your body to cool down, hairs stay flat and skin goes red.
