  • Capitulum/Head - main axis is suppressed, becoming almost flat.
  • Catkin - spike-like inflorescence that bears only unisexual flowers; catkins occur only in woody plants
  • Corymb - the main axis si comparatively short. The lower flowers have longer stalks than the upper ones so that all the flowers are brought more or less at the same level.
  • Cyathium - consists of a cup-shaped involucres formed by fused heads

  • Spadix - spike with fleshy axis, enclosed by large, often brightly colored bract called SPATHE
  • Spike - elongated axis; flowers are sessile or without a stalk
