  • Sin
    An immoral act considered to be against divine law. Separates humans from God.
  • Original Sin
    Adam and Eve disobey God's command not to eat fruit from the tree of good and evil. The result of this was separation from God and the introduction of death into the world.
  • Sinfulness
    Humans are not inclined to do as they are told, including disobeying God which damages their relationship with Him.

    Thoughts against God's divine law. Can lead to sinful actions.

  • Free will
    God's gift to human beings of the freedom and ability to choose what to do. Humans should make choices that God would approve of otherwise they will separate themselves from God.
  • Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:1-19)
    A set of laws for responsible behaviour, which, according to the Bible, were given to Moses by God.
  • Beatitudes (Matthew 5:1-12)
    The teachings of Jesus during the Sermon on the Mount in which he describes the actions and attitudes that should characterize Christians and by which one can discover genuine meaning and happiness.
  • Incarnation
    God becoming flesh, God in human form. God needed to break the barrier caused by sin.
  • God in Christ
    God healed the separation between Himself and humans by sending Jesus.
  • Crucifixion of Jesus
    God sacrificed Jesus to atone for the past sins of humanity, including original sin. This offered reconciliation with God and therefore, salvation.
  • Atonement
    Reparation/ amends for a wrong or injury.
  • Reconciliation
    The act of agreement after a quarrel, the resolution of a dispute.
  • Salvation
    The act of delivering from sin or saving from evil.
