Light

Cards (12)

  • Light - is electromagnetic radiation
    that has properties of waves
    and particles.
  • Reflection of Light
    • a property that bounce off
    from a reflecting surface. It
    occurs when the waves
    encounter a surface or other
    boundary that does not absorb
the energy of the radiation and
    bounces the waves away from
    the surface
  • Two kinds of Reflection
    1. Specular
    2. Diffuse
  • Absorption of light - is the process in which light
    is absorbed by matter and
    converted into energy.
  • Scattering of light - a change in the direction of
motion of a particle because of
    a collision with another
    particle.
  • Refraction of Light
    • is the bending of light as it
    passes from one transparent
    substance into another. This
    bending by refraction makes it
possible for us to have lenses,
    magnifying glasses, prisms and
    rainbows.
  • Dispersion of Light
    • process of splitting
    of white light into seven
    colours.
  • Specular Reflection - is a type of surface
    reflectance often described as a
    mirror-like reflection of light
    from the surface.
  • Diffuse Reflection - is the reflection of light
from a surface such that an
    incident ray is reflected at
many angles, rather than at just
one angle as in the case of
    specular reflection.
  • Scattering of Light - a change in the direction of
motion of a particle because of
    a collision with another particle.
  • What law is this? Reflection
  • What law is this? Refraction
