Types of Pathogens

• There are 4 types of pathogens
• Diseases are spread between organisms
• Diseases are caused by pathogens
• Bacteria are small living cells that reproduce rapidly and can cause disease.
• Bacteria produces toxins that can damage the body's cells and tissues.
• Viruses invade and reproduce inside the body of cells, and they burst and releases them to attack other cells
• Viruses are not cells
• Protists are single celled eukaryotes that can live as parasites
• Parasites are organisms that live in other organisms and get nutrients from them
• Protists are transferred to the host by a vector
• Fungi can be single-celled or multi celled
• Multicellular fungi have a body made up of hyphae, which is a feathery like filaments that can cause infections penetrating the human skin
• Hyphae produces a cell called spores to spread diseases
