  • The 3 rd Medical Laboratory was the first laboratory unit to be assigned in the South West Pacific Area (SWPA)
  • The unit also performed special serological, bacteriological, pathological, and preservation of pathological specimens of value to the US Army Medical Department.
  • Dr Pio de Roda along with Dr Prudencia Sta Ana, conducted a training program for aspiring laboratory workers.
