Waterways Vocab

• Aquifer - body of permeable rock which can contain or transmit groundwater
• Reservoir - large natural or artificial lake used as a source of water supply
• Dam - collecting water which then can be evenly distributed
• Storm drains prevent flooding
• Watershed - area of land where all of the water under it or in the drains go to the same place
• Renewable - resources can be replaces, but do not last indefinitely
• Sustainable - using resources so they can regenerate faster then we are depleting them
• Non-point source pollution - pollutants that are not traceable to just one source
• Point Source Pollution - pollutants that are traceable back to the one single source
