Terminal Moraine

Cards (2)

  • Explain the formation of a terminal moraine?
Moraine is the material transported by the glacier. As the glacier moves downhill it acts like a bulldozer, pushing sediment in front of its snout as it goes. When the temperature rises (or glacier reaches lower altitudes) the ice melts at the snout of the glacier
  • What happens hen the ice melts in the formation of a terminal moraine?
Once the ice has melted, the terminal moraine can oftenform a dam, creating a ribbon lake
