  • Ligaments
    The role of the ligaments is to join bone to bone. Ligaments are formed to tough connective tissue that holds the bones together to form the joint.
    Function:
    • Helps keep joints stable
    • Prevents unwanted movement that might cause injury, such as a dislocation when playing sport.
  • Tendons:
    The role of the tendons is to join muscle to bone. Tendons are formed of a tough connective tissue.

    Function:
    They hold the muscles to the bone, so that when the muscles contracts the muscles can pull on the bone and cause movement at joints.
