• It was written by natives who still remembered what life was like before the conquest
• 3 parts
• First part tells of all the Aztec conquests from the founding of tenochtitlan to a year after the spanish conquest
• Th second is a description of all the tribute that conquered places payed
• The third parts looks and the lives of Aztecs from birth to marriage to death
