Clinical discipline that claims to bring the best evidence from clinical and health care research to the bedside, the surgery or clinic, and the community
What is evidence based practice (EBP)?
approach to health care where health professionals use the best evidence possible (most appropriate info available) to make clinical decisions for individual patients.
What is Reproducibility?
the result of a study should be achieved again with a high degree of agreement when the study is replicated with the same methodology by different researchers
What is Sensitivity?
probability that a test result will be positive when the disease is present (true positive rate)
What is Specificity?
the probability that a test result will be negative when the disease is not present (true negative rate)
Positive predictive value: The likelihood that a patient with a positive test has a disease.
Negative predictive value: The likelihood that a patient with a negative test does not have a disease
Studies in field of EVIDENCE-BASED PRACTICE?
therpeutic interventions
diagnostic tests
etiology
prognosis
clinical practice guidelines
How can we EVALUATE the DIAGNOSTIC METHODS?
technical capacity of methods
diagnostic accuracy
diagnostic impact
therapeutic impact
patient outcome
optimal usage
RULE of REPEATING EXAMINATIONS
Never inspect the uncertain value of the test in an other laboratory. Your uncertainty will only increase duse to different "Bayes" between labs.
