Noradrenaline

Cards (6)

  • What is noradrenaline?
    Sympathomimetic (stimulates sympathetic NS)
  • What is the pharmacology of noradrenaline?
    Target: Adrenergic receptors (a1, a2, b1, b2)
    Action: Agonist
  • MOA - Noradrenaline
    Binds to...
    • a1 adrenergic receptor -> vasoconstriction (skin & GIT), sphincter contraction
    • a2 adrenergic receptor -> decreased platelet aggregation
    • b1 adrenergic receptor -> increase HR, increase AV node conduction, increased contractibility of ventricular muscle, increased renin secretion
    • b2 adrenergic receptor -> vasodilation (skeletal muscle), bronchiole relaxation
  • What are the indications of noradrenaline?
    Acute hypotension
  • What are the side effects of noradrenaline?
    Headache
    Anxiety
    Ischaemia
  • What is the monitoring required for noradrenaline?
    Monitor BP
