  • reasons for the win of Henry V
    1. ploughed ground, forest flanks, narrow battle field (neutralised the numbers as the french could on attack from one direction) GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATION2. Stakes from forest were cut and sharpened to act as a barrier (acting almost like a schiltron to slow the french cavalry) TACTICS 3. Henry V fought in battle to boost morale and gave a speech (which was later depicted in a shakespeare play) LEADERSHIP 4. French were too over confident FRENCH WEAKNESSES
  • Postions
    - standard formation of blocks - longbowmen on flanks- ploughed ground = soft and slowed the French cavalry- long sharpened stakes driven into the ground to act as a barrier to slow french army
  • English bowmen fire
Henry V advance his army and got his archers/ longbowmen to gall the french army as they could not afford to wait on the impending attack any longer due to lack of men and limited resources. meant that an undisciplined
    french cavalry charge was forced
  • French attack
battle field was narrow and therefore crowded for the french army (who was superior) which meant that they struggled to advance toward the English army. They were forced to dismount because of muddy ground but English longbow was still being fired so heavy losses of the french army had been taken
