  • Research by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation in 2007 found that men from ethnic minorities in managerial and professional jobs earn up to 25% less than their white colleagues.
  • The National Equality Panel found that BAME households were the least wealthy in the UK. For example, in 2008, White households had on average an estimated £221,000 level of wealth. Indian households were not far behind but the average net wealth of Bangladeshi households was £15,000.
  • Rowlingson and McKay found that White people in managerial positions had greater levels of wealth than ethnic minorities in similar jobs. Black people were the least wealthy of all ethnic minority groups.
