SHE

• SHE is example for gas electrode
• SHE consists of inert platinum electrode dipped in 1M H+ solution and in contact wit H2 gas at 1 atm pressure at 298 K
• Limitations of SHE: cumbersome to setup, requires large volume of solution, hydrogen electrode can be poisoned by Hg, As, etc., cannot be used in solutions with redox systems, difficult to maintain physical conditions
