  • He believed that Germany should be punished but not to the extent that it retaliates in the future. He did not want Germany's situation to be similar to Russia's. Where communist groups had taken over the government and the country was in a state of chaos.
  • Wilson wanted democratic governments set in Europe. He thought that if the people select the leader they won't allow the leader to cause another war.
  • He wanted to give self determination to smaller countries once part of of Euorpean empires. He wanted different ethnicities ( slovaks , czecs, poles, hungarians) to rule themselves.
  • Formed the League of nations as he believed that future conflicts and wars could be avoided by international cooperation.
  • Wilson's Fourteen Points primarily supported the idea of lasting peace. Many of the points focused on: trade equality, ending of secrete treaties, and alliances, freedom of the seas, and the establishment of the League of Nations.
