    • There are about 640 muscles in the body
    • Muscles can be classified as skeletal, smooth or cardiac muscle.
    • Skeletal muscles attach to bones by tendons.
    • The three types of muscle tissue include skeletal (voluntary), smooth (involuntary) and cardiac (involuntary).

    • Skeletal muscles are connected to the bones and are responsible for movement

    • Smooth muscles are not attached to the bones. They are involuntary muscles because they work automatically.

    • Cardiac muscle (or myocardium) makes up the thick middle layer of the heart
