  • Character set - collection of characters that the computer recognises from their binary representatio.
  • ASCII is a 7 bit code that represents 128 characters. We put an extra (0) in front of the code so it can fit into one byte
  • File size of a text = number of characters x number of bits per character.
  • Colour depth is the number of bits used for characters
  • file Size of an image = colour depth x width x height
  • Meta data shows - height , width , colour depth , resolution , and file format.
