• Oolitic limestone is found in water less than 2cm deep where constant wave action takes place.
• In deep carbonate seas chalk is found where there is no sediment and ooze (shells of microscopic organisms like foraminifera).
• Turbidites are produced due to landslides on the continental shelf that rush down the continental slope into deep ocean.
• Turbidites can spread hundreds of km over deep ocean abyssal plains.
