PNS

• The Peripheral Nervous System transmits messages, via millions of neurons, to and from the CNS
• The Peripheral Nervous system is further divided up into the somatic nervous system and the autonomic nervous system
• The Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) governs vital functions in the body such as breathing, heart rate, digestion, sexual arousal and stress responses
• The Somatic Nervous System (SNS) controls muscle movements and receives information from sensory receptors
