    Jackson et al (2010) are angry that educational policy has focused on improving achievement for boys and ignored girls. Although girls outperform boys, they may be disadvantaged and not achieving as well as they could if the issues with boys' disruptive behaviour and demanding attention were properly dealt with.

    It has been shown how boys' aggression, dominance and attention seeking undermines girls' confidence and self-esteem. This may be a contributing factor as to why women still do not hold equal positions of power as men and, in the family, still take on the burden of responsibility for the children and the housework.
