  • The Treaty of Versailles was a set of rules that Germany had to stick to at the end of WW1.
  • German people felt the Treaty of Versailles was very harsh and referred to it as a 'diktat', meaning dictated treaty.
  • The Treaty of Versailles showed that Germany was unfairly forced to agree to the rules.
  • Many Germans blamed the Weimer Government for signing the Treaty of Versailles.

  • The War Guilt Clause in the Treaty of Versailles stated that Germany had to take the blame for starting the war.
  • Germany had to pay reparations to the winning countries as per the Treaty of Versailles, which required a huge amount of money.
