Movement

• Charged molecules which are water soluble ions and larger molecules (such as glucose which can’t be easily passed through hydrophobic membrane as they are insoluble in lipid or too big )
• Intrinsic proteins whose molecules span the membrane, aid the diffusion and facilitate the diffusion
• Facilitated diffusion is passive and substances move down the concentration gradient or in cases of ions, down a electrochemical gradient
