    Warmth, shelter, food and transport. Many of these resources are produced by argriculture.

    Biofuels such as woodchips.
  • What can trees be used for?
    Timber and fuel
  • What does agriculture help us to do?
    Helps us to use the Earths resources more efficiently
  • How has chemistry replaced natural resources?
    By using synthetic alternatives for example rubber from tree sap to synthetic rubber made using crude oil
  • What is a finite resource?
    Means that they cannot be replaced as quickly as they are being used e.g. fossil fuels
  • What is a renewable resource?
    Means we can replace these resources as quickly as we are using them. These will never run out. e.g wood
  • What does it mean to be sustainable?
    Meaning we can meet our needs without preventing future generations from meeting theirs.
  • What do artificial fertilisers allow?
    Allow us to grow more food with the land available.
  • What does phytomining and bioleaching help with?
    Help us to extract metals more efficiently.
