  • Time Series Design:
    • aka quasi experimental design
    • following people for a period of time, so is a prospective design
    • consists of having a prolonged duration to measure a baseline, measuring people more than one time during that baseline
    • similar format to pre-test post-test design, but allows for a more reliable measure of the dependent variables baseline before we manipulate it
    • we follow them for some time after the manipulation
  • Time Series Design:
    • can vary the timing of manipulation, so its different for different people within the test
    • this makes it less likely that a single confounding variable affects the dependent variables
    • it is best to do this randomly, so the researcher can't bias when the manipulation occurs
    • this is called an interrupted/randomised time series designs
