finite and renewable resources

Cards (8)

  • natural resources come from the sea, earth and air
  • natural resources form without human input, can be replaced by synthetic products or improved upon by man - made processes
  • agriculture provides conditions where natural resources can be enhanced for our needs
  • renewable resources reform at a similar rate, or faster, we use them
  • finite (non-renewable) resources are not formed quickly enough to be replaceable . include fossil fuels, nuclear fuels.
  • after extracted, finite resources may under-go man-made processes to provide fuels and materials necessary for modern life , like fractional distillation
  • people have to balance social, economic and environmental effects of extracting finite resources.
  • mining metal ores produces useful products and provides jobs for local people. but bad for environment as it used lots of energy, producing lots of waste and destroying habitats
