  • SAMPLING
    • Act of studying or examining only a segment of the
    population to represent the whole
    • Whatever findings we get for this segment of the
    population, we generalize to the total population
  • Population can be studied through proper sampling techniques or methods.
  • Sampling is the process of selecting representative number of elements from a population.
  • Census is a complete enumeration of all items in the population, involving a great deal of time, money and energy.
  • Undertaking a census survey, many times, is not possible.
  • The sample must be selected to represent the entire population.
  • Sometimes it is possible to obtain sufficiently accurate results by studying only a part of total population- sampling.
