  Jesus acted situationally; Christians should follow his example. Ethical decision making is built around agapeic love that is offered by Jesus. For Christians this is an ideal formula when faced with ethical problems because it focuses upon the most loving action

  Non Christians would argue that basing decisions on the bible is outdated. There are more modern ways of approaching problems.

  Situationists do not discard moral rules but ignore those which do not fit a situation. Whereas religious legalism takes the responsibility off the individual and can be against reason and emotion

  Leaves it up to the individual. Puts too much responsibility on the individual. Most people have a natural tendency towards selfishness and requiring them to act autonomously could result in people serving their own ends. People need rules

  Forces people to analyse situations in terms of the desired end. Motivates people to improve society

  Could lead to obsessive love being mistaken as agape love. Many scholars and theologians turn their backs on Fletcher's method. Everyone's perception of love is different.
