Merapi ~2000m tall, Pacific Ring of Fire, Australian plate converges with Indo-Asian & subducts at 7cm/year, causing explosive eruptions every 2-3 years
Iceland ~1660m tall, Mid-Atlantic Ridge & Arctic Circle, despite the diverging of N.American and EuroAsian plate of 3-5cm/year, only 3 eruptions are in recorded history: due to low temperature, volcanic plugs form in vents to trap in gas and hot magma for long time e.g. E15 2010 erupted after 200 years.
