• epidermal tissue- outer layer of the leaf, contains chloroplasts covers all the plant
• palisade mesophyll tissue - contains lots of chloroplasts and is found in the upper part of the leaf, where photosynthesis occurs
• spongy mesophyll tissue - contains lots of air spaces for gas exchange and diffusion
• xylem and pholem - transport water and mineral ions
• meristem tissue - found in the tips of shoots and roots, and in the axils of leaves
