Life After Percy Bysshe Shelley

• After Shelley’s death, Mary returned to England with their son, Percy.
• Mary had little money but refused to give the child in care of Shelley’s wealth family, whom she was on bard terms with.
• On her small and unreliable income, Mary was able to send her son to a public school and to Cambridge University.
• Percy eventually became hair to his grandfather’s fortune and title in 1844, making his mother financially secure.
• Mary continued to write, publishing more novels, travel books, plays and biography.
• Mary worked hard to preserve Shelley’s reputation, producing editions of his poetry and letters and other works.
• Mary never completed her projected biographer of her husband.
• Mary died in London when she was 53, a notable later work and Mart Shelley’s is the futuristic eco dystopia, the last man.
